Flying to Prague, Czech Republic: The Vaclav Havel Airport (ATA code: PRG ) is serviced by many airlines. When comparing flights, we often use GOOGLE flight or Kayak Flights to find the best fares. The Airport is located 23 km from the Clarion Congress Hotel where we will hold the conference.
Traveling to the Clarion Congress Hotel: The easiest way to reach the hotel is by taxi or uber from the airport. It is a roughly 25 min ride and costs about 30€. Public transportation is also a good option. The trip to the Hotel takes less than 1 hour and costs about 6 €. Public transportation in Prague is safe, clean, fast and reasonably priced. You may want to use it to explore the city if not to travel back and forth from the airport. (https://www.pragueexperience.com/travel/public-transport.asp) When exiting the airport, there is an information desk where you can get help with travel to the hotel. The app for the public transit system is available at https://www.dpp.cz/en/fares/mobile-app.
Train Travel to Prague
International rail passengers arriving in Prague disembark at one of two train stations:
The busiest railway terminus is Prague Main Railway Station (Praha hlavní nádraží). It is in the city centre, 5 minutes walk from Wenceslas Square, 15 minutes from Old Town Square.
Metro station: Hlavní nádraží (line C).
Tram stop: Hlavní nádraží.
The second railway terminus is Praha-Holešovice Station (Nádraží Praha-Holešovice). It is located just outside the city centre, but is easily accessible by public transport.
Metro station: Nádraží Holešovice (line C).
Tram stop: Nádraží Holešovice.
TRAIN TIMES & TICKET RESERVATIONS
Check train times and book train tickets at České dráhy (Czech Railways). Information is in English and Czech.
For outbound travellers, train tickets can also be purchased from any Prague railway station. Tickets are usually available for all national and international destinations right up to the time of departure.
The official currency of the Czech Republic is the Czech koruna (CZK), sometimes referred to as Czech crown in English, the koruna Česká (Kč) in Czech.
Banks and ATMs
In the centre of Prague, visitors will have no problem finding several banks and ATMs. If you need to visit a branch, they are open from Monday to Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.
How to Pay
Travelers will find it easier and cheaper to use their bank cards when paying in Prague. The exchange rate is normally a maximum 1% when paying with a debit or credit card, which is cheaper than exchanging money in a bureau de change. To know if card payment is accepted, ask before making any purchase.
Where To Exchange Currency
The best exchange rates are usually found in bureaux de change located in the centre, . Banks usually charge a 2% commission and hotel or airport currency exchange are usually more expensive.
When exchanging money in currency exchange, it’s always a good idea to ask how many korunas you’ll get for an exact amount of euros or dollars. We recommend ignoring signs that say “0% commissions”, as these are simply marketing maneuvers to attract clients.
Before leaving for Prague, you can find out how much your bank charges for foreign transactions. This way, you’ll know how much you’re being charged when you use an ATM.
Public transport in Prague is clean, safe and efficient. Subway, trams, buses and trains are integrated to cover the city.
The Prague transport site provides details on where and how to purchase and use tickets as well as maps and schedules.
